Teen/Adult Programs

North Jersey Aquatic Club – Morris County, NJNorth Jersey Aquatics offers teen and adult beginner/intermediate classes throughout the week at our Parsippany location. Skills (and fears) can vary greatly in teens and adults. For this reason, we differentiate for each student in each class we have, but beginners/intermediate levels share class times. No two classes are alike, as students are all starting at a different place and we meet them where they are and work on a plan to increase proficiency, decrease fears, and increase stamina.

Class structure

  • Teen/Adult classes will be individually focused on what each swimmer needs to meet their level of swimming ability.
  • The instructor will rotate and share time with each swimmer.
  • The pool is a smaller, shallow (only 5 feet deep) hotel pool and not a deep competitive pool.
  • Various level and abilities will be taught, from first time swimmers to those looking to improve technique for exercise/training purposes. You do not have to feel silly or embarrassed about your ability level! All levels are welcome!

Classes designed for all levels

Teen/Adult classes will vary based upon the needs of each swimmer. First time swimmers will work on gaining confidence in the water to swim to safety in case of an aquatic emergency. Intermediate swimmers will be learning stroke technique, floating, and submerging. Advanced swimmers will work on stamina, improving stroke technique and individual skills based upon needs.

Teen/Beginner/Intermediate (Ages 13-18) or Adult (ages 18+)

  • Teen classes are for beginner/intermediate teens that are looking to improve skills, increase endurance, and gain confidence to swim in both pools and open water settings.  A strong emphasis will be placed on safety and survival skills.  Classes will be offered during quieter pool times as to maximize your experience.
  • In general, beginners have one or more of these characteristics:  nervous to put their face in, don’t feel comfortable holding their breath under water, nervous to go in water deeper than they can stand, nervous to pick their feet off the bottom, lack confidence in traveling distances without stopping
  • An intermediate swimmer may have some of the characteristics of a beginner, but are also more confident, less nervous, and more ready to try new things in the water.
